2010 CHAMPIONSHIP CLASSES

Listed below are the championship class sections for the '2010 Championships' to be held on

10 / 11 / 12 September 2010.

Qualification Cards MUST only be given to the highest exhibitor that complies with the qualification rules of the relevant championship class. (i.e. If you hold an open Mountain & Moorland class, the qualification card MUST only be given to the highest pony registered with their respective Pure Breed Society Stud Book in the class)

Recipients of cards must comply with the general rules of South West Pony Association and rules for championship section. (Please see accompanying ‘SWPA Show Rules’ sheet)

CHAMPIONSHIP

PREFIX NAME OF CHAMPIONSHIP

A                                             Pure, Part Bred & Anglo Arab In-Hand

All Equines in this section MUST be registered.

Classes may be split into ages and or height. Pure Breds may have their own classes.

A1                                           Pure, Part Bred & Anglo Arab Ridden 

Stallion, Mare or Gelding. All animals MUST be registered.

            Riders any age. (see rules for Ridden Stallions)

            Classes may be split into height sections. Pure Breds may have their own class.

B                                             Hacks & Riding Horse In-Hand

            Hacks not to exceed 160cms. Riding Horses to exceed 148cms.

            Classes may be split into ages and or height sections.

B1                                           Hacks & Riding Horse Ridden              

Mare or Gelding. Hacks not to exceed 160cms. Riding Horses exceeding 148cms.

            Riders to have attained their 15th birthday by 1st January in the current year.

            Classes may be split between Hacks & Riding Horses.

C1                                           Cobs Ridden

            Mare or Gelding. Exceeding 148cms but not to exceed 155cms.

            Riders to have attained their 15th birthday by 1st January in the current year.

            Classes may be split between Lightweight & Heavyweight.

D                                             Coloured Horse/Pony In-Hand

            To include SKEWBALD, PIEBALD, APPALOOSA, SPOTTED, PALOMINO and DUN.

            Classes may be split into age, colour or type.

D1                                           Coloured Horse/Pony Ridden   

            To include SKEWBALD, PIEBALD, APPALOOSA, SPOTTED, PALOMINO & DUN.

Stallion, Mare or Gelding. Riders any age. (see rules for Ridden Stallions)

            Classes may be split into colour or type.

E                                             Hunters In-Hand

            To exceed 148cms.

            Classes may be split into ages.

E1                                           Hunters Ridden     

            Mare or Gelding. Exceeding 148cms.

            Riders to have attained their 16th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

F                                              Mountain & Moorland Part Bred In-Hand

            All Part Breds must be registered.

            Classes may be split into ages and or height.

F1                                           Mountain & Moorland Part Bred Ridden         

            Stallion, Mare or Gelding. All M&M Part Breds must be registered.

            Riders any age. (see rules for Ridden Stallions)

            Classes may be split into height sections.

G                                             Show/Riding Pony In-Hand        

            Not to exceed 153cms.

            Classes may be split into age and or height sections.

G1                                           Show/Riding Pony Ridden

            Mare or Gelding. Not to exceed 148cms.

            Riders must be correct age for height of pony they ride:-              

            n/e 128cms, Riders not to have attained their 13th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

            ex 128cms - n/e 138cms, Riders not to have attained their 15th birthday before 1st January in the

current year.

            ex 138cms - n/e 148cms, Riders not to have attained their 17th birthday before 1st January in the

G2                                           Intermediate Show Riding Type

            Mare or Gelding. Exceeding 146cms, but not exceeding 158cms.

            Riders not to have attained their 25th birthday before 1st January in the current year.                              

H                                             Show Hunter Pony In-Hand       

            Not to exceed 153cms.

            Classes may be split into age sections.

H1                                           Show Hunter Pony Ridden        

            Mare or Gelding. Not to exceed 153cms.

            Riders must be correct age for height of animal they ride:-

            n/e 122cms, Rider not to have attained their 11th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

            ex 122cms - n/e 133cms, Riders not to have attained their 14th birthday before 1st January in the

current year.

            ex 133cms - n/e 143cms, Riders not to have attained their 17th birthday before 1st January in the

H2                                           Intermediate Show Hunter Type

J                                              Junior Mountain & Moorland Ridden  

            Mare or Gelding. All ponies must be registered with their respective

Pure Breed Society Stud Books.

            Small Breeds. Riders not to have attained their 14th birthday before 1st January in the

current year.

            Large Breeds. Riders not to have attained their 18th birthday before 1st January in the

current year.

J1                                            Junior Open Ridden (excluding M&M)

            Mare or Gelding. Any Type or Colour.

K (b)                                       Show Hunter Lead Rein

            Not to exceed 122cms. Riders not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1st January in the

current year.

K (b1)                                     Show Hunter First Ridden

            Not to exceed 122cms. Riders not to have attained their 10th birthday before 1st January in the

current year.

K (c)                                       Mountain & Moorland Lead Rein

            To be registered in their respective Pure Breed Society Stud Books.

            Not to exceed 122cms. Riders not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1st January in the

current year.

K (c1)                                     Mountain & Moorland First Ridden

            To be registered in their respective Pure Breed Society Stud Books.

            Not to exceed 128cms. Riders not to have attained their 12th birthday before 1st January in the

current year.

L (a)                Open Cradle Stakes

            Mare or Gelding. Not exceeding 122cms.

            Riders not to have attained their 10th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

L (b)             Open Nursery Stakes

            Mare or Gelding. Not exceeding 133cms.

            Riders not to have attained their 12th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

L (c)                                        BREAMORE STUD Lead Rein M&M WHP

            Mare or Gelding. Not exceeding 122cms. To be registered in their respective

Pure Breed Society Stud Books. 

            Riders not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

Riders not to have competed off the Lead Rein in ANY WHP classes before 1st January in the

current year.

            SNAFFLE BRIDLES ONLY. Maximum Height of Fences 1ft 6inches.

L (d)                                        BREAMORE STUD Lead Rein Open WHP

            Mare or Gelding. Not exceeding 122cms.

            Riders not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

Riders not to have competed off the Lead Rein in ANY WHP classes before 1st January in the

current year.

            SNAFFLE BRIDLES ONLY. Maximum Height of Fences 1ft 6inches.

PLEASE NOTE: Affiliated shows may hold L c) and L d) as one class and award

qualification to the highest placed Open Lead Rein and the highest placed

M&M Lead Rein.

            PLEASE NOTE, NOVICE WORKING HUNTER RULES:

            Riders not to have attained their 7th birthday if riding a Show/Riding type pony,

            8th birthday if riding a Show Hunter type pony,

            or 9th birthday if riding an M&M type pony, before 1st January in the current year.

N4 (b)                                     Novice First Ridden                      

Mare or Gelding, Open to All types of ponies not exceeding 122cms.

            (Mountain & Moorland not exceeding 128cms and must be registered with their respective

Pure Breed Society stud books).

            Riders not to have attained their 10th birthday if riding a Show/Riding or

Show Hunter type pony, or 12th birthday if riding an M&M type pony, before 1st January

in the current year.

P                                             Young Handlers

            Mare or Gelding. NO COLTS or STALLIONS.

            Handlers to have attained their 4th birthday before 1st January in the current year but

not to have attained their 18th birthday before 31st August 2010.

            Classes may be split into age groups, 8 years & under, 9 – 11 years, 12 – 13 years,

14 – 18 years.

R                                             Competition Horse/Pony In-Hand

Competition Type Horse/Pony

            Classes may be split into n/e 148cms and ex 148cms, or into Youngstock and Four and over.

R1                                           Competition Horse/Pony Ridden

            Competition Type Horse/Pony. Stallion, Mare or Gelding. (excluding Mountain & Moorland)

            Riders any age. (see rules for Ridden Stallions)

            Judged 60% Performance to include Freestyle Show, and 40% Conformation.

            Classes may be split into not exceeding 148cms and exceeding 148cms.  

R2                                           Competition Mountain & Moorland Ridden

Competition Type Mountain & Moorland. Stallion, Mare or Gelding.

To be registered with their respective Pure  Breed Society Stud Books.

            Riders any age. (see rules for Ridden Stallions)

            Judged 60% Performance to include Freestyle Show, and 40% Conformation.

            Classes may be split into Small & Large Breeds.  

T Foreign & Rare Breeds In-Hand

Horse or Pony. Any Age. Rare Breeds to be listed on the Critical or Endangered category

Classes may be split into Youngstock & Adult Stock.

T1 Foreign & Rare Breeds Ridden

Horse or Pony. Four years old and over. Rare Breeds to be listed on the Critical or Endangered

            category.

V                                             Veteran Horse/Pony In-Hand

Horse or Pony. Fifteen years old and over.

            Classes may be split into 15 - 25 years and 25 and over.

V1                                           Veteran Horse/Pony Ridden

Horse or Pony. Fifteen years old and over.

            Riders any age.  (see rules for Ridden Stallions)

            Classes may be split into 15 - 25 years and 25 and over.

V2                                           Senior Riders

Horse or Pony. Any age.

            Riders to have attained their 30th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

X                                             X Race Horse In-Hand

Stallion, Mare or Gelding. Four years old and over, registered with Weatherby’s.

            The equine MUST have raced either on the flat, over jumps or point-to-point and MUST be entered in

            it's registered name. To be judged on the suitability to compete in all disciplines.

            Classes may be split into 18 - 25 years and 25 and over.

X1                                           X Race Horse Ridden

Stallion, Mare or Gelding. Four years old and over, registered with Weatherby’s.

            The equine MUST have raced either on the flat, over jumps or point-to-point and MUST be entered in

            it's registered name. To be judged on the suitability to compete in all disciplines.

            Classes may be split into 18 - 25 years and 25 and over.

Y (a)                                        Owner Bred In- Hand Mountain & Moorland

Ponies must be registered with their respective Pure Breed Society Stud Books.

            Classes may split into Ages and or Breeds.

Y (b)                                        Owner Bred In-Hand (exc. Mountain & Moorland)

            Horse or Pony. Any Age.

            Classes may be split into Height, Type or Age.

Z                                              Miniature Horse In-Hand

Miniature Horse. Any Age. 42” and under.
