SHOW RULES  Recent amendments in Bold Type

 

The Show is run under the rules of the South West Pony Association's constitution and general show rules, a copy of which can be obtained from the Secretary, Mrs Medwin Broad.

 

Where classes are affiliated to Ponies (UK), The Shetland Pony Stud-Book Society or The Exmoor Pony Society, their rules apply.

 

All competitors take part at their OWN RISK and are expected to exercise due care at all times and obey all notices displayed.  The organisers and owners of Lympsham Showground,

accept NO responsibility for any accident, loss or damage to any competitors, spectators, animals or property. It shall be a condition of entry that competitors will hold the organisers blameless and indemnify them against any loss, damage or legal proceedings.

 

The SWPA recommend that all exhibitors should have adequate personal sports insurance.

All accidents/incidents/falls should be reported to the Secretary.

 

Exhibitors may not knowingly exhibit any Pony/Horse that has been bred, sold, leased or produced by the Judge or his/her immediate family or his/her employer.

 

An exhibitor may not show an equine in a competition judged by any member of his/her immediate family.

 

Exhibitors may not knowingly exhibit any Pony/Horse that has been bred, sold, leased or produced by the Judge or his/her immediate family or his/her employer.

An exhibitor may not show under a judge for whom he/she has produced an equine since

The Judge's decision will be final.

 

All Ridden Equines MUST be 4 years old & over.

All Colts / Stallions two years old and over must be in possession of a current License.

(unless otherwise governed by the individual Breed Society)   

 

IN-HAND STALLIONS AND COLTS:

SWPA, SHETLAND PONY SOCIETY and P(UK): - Stallions / Colts may NOT be LED by any Juniors who have not attained their 14th birthday before 1st January in the current year.

 

RIDDEN STALLIONS:

SHETLAND PONY SOCIETY RULES: - Children MUST have attained their 11th birthday on the day of the show to compete in a ridden class with a Stallion.

 

SWPA & P(UK) RULES: - Any Pony Stallion not exceeding 138cms or Small Breed Mountain & Moorland Stallions may NOT be ridden by juniors who have NOT attained their 12th birthday before 1st January in the current year at any show affiliated to Ponies Association (UK). Stallions exceeding 138cms or Large Breed Mountain & Moorland Stallions may

NOT be ridden by juniors who have NOT attained their 14th birthday before 1st January in the current at any show affiliated to Ponies Association (UK).

 

All Children MUST have attained their 3rd birthday by 1st January in the current year before competing in ANY ridden classes, and must comply with the upper limit of the class entered, and be

prepared to supply a copy of their birth certificate if requested.

 

Correct British Standard Headgear conforming to PAS015 or EN1384 or ASTMF1163 or current standards to be worn at all times when mounted, with chinstraps from 3 points on the hat fastened.

 

Reins that restrict the natural movement of a pony/horse MUST not be used in the ring.

 

NO Spurs to worn in any ridden class and Showing Canes MUST not exceed 30".

(unless deemed to part of the 'dress code' for the class entered).

 

In Ridden Classes, if a rider falls off at any time whilst in the Ring, both pony/horse and rider MUST leave the ring, rider dismounted, and take no further part.

 

 

LEAD REIN,  FIRST RIDDEN (unless governed by P(UK) rules), NOVICE RIDDEN / NOVICE WHP CLASSES, SNAFFLE BRIDLES ONLY will be accepted.

Mountain & Moorland ponies MUST be shown in their natural state and trimming MUST comply with the respective Breed Society Stud Books.

 

Mountain & Moorland ponies and Part Breds must be registered with their respective Pure Breed Societies and registration numbers to be stated on the entry forms and when entered on the day,

(unless otherwise stated on the individual class). These conditions also apply to horses/ponies entered as Pure Bred, Part Bred & Anglo Arabs.

 

Mares with foals at foot MUST have attained their 4th birthday.

 

All foals being shown MUST be a minimum of three weeks old on the day of the show.

 

The organisers may divide/amalgamate/cancel classes as they see fit, without prior notice.

 

The organisers reserve the right to refuse entry of persons or ponies at the committee's / secretary's discretion and without assigning a reason.

 

ALL dogs MUST be kept on LEADS.

 

Objections must be in writing and given to the Secretary within 30 minutes of the completion of the relevant class and accompanied with a fee of £10.00 (refundable if the objection is upheld)

 

Entry fees are not refundable.

 

All Prize Monies MUST be collected before leaving any SWPA show.

PONIES (UK) SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFICATION RULES

  

“This show is a qualifier for the Ponies (UK) 2008 Summer Championship Show, to be held on the 13th – 16th August 2008 at the Newark and Notts Showground”.

To validate your qualification, competitors are required to: -

Step 1 – Register your qualification within 14 days with Ponies (UK).

Send the Registration of Qualification certificate plus £10.00, plus 2008 Full Membership

(if not already submitted) to the Ponies (UK) office within 14 days in order for the qualification

to remain valid.

 

Step 2Declare your intention to enter the Summer Championships.

Forward Declaration of Entry for the Summer Championship Show along with the balance

of entry fee by the close of entries.

SOUTH WEST PONY ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIPS

NEW QUALIFYING RULES

 

This show is a qualifier for the South West Pony Association Championships

to be held on 12, 13, 14 September 2008,

at The David Broome Event Centre, Crick, Gwent. NP26 5XP

 

To qualify for the Championships:

1.   Enter one of the qualifying classes.

2.   Be one of the two highest placed exhibits not already qualified within the first four, and receive   

       a qualification card signed in the ring.

3.   Complete the entry form on the qualification card.

4.   Return the card to together with any membership fees due within 14 days of this show.

 

Please Note: Membership fees £20

 

 

 

EQUIFEST SHOWING SHOW QUALIFICATION RULES

  

“This show is a qualifier for the Equifest Showing Show, to be held on the 15th – 17th August 2008 at the East of England Showground, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. PE2 6XE.

 

The Three Highest placed exhibits not already qualified in classes: -

R11 – R12, R15 – R18, R56 – R61, R62 – R68, R70, R75 will qualify for the Equifest Showing Show 2008 Championships.

 

 

 

ROYAL LONDON SHOW QUALIFYING RULES

 

This show is a qualifier for the Royal London Show 2008.

 

 The First, Second and Third placed exhibits in the following classes: -

 H1 – H7, R11 – R18, H19 – H21, H22 – H41, H43 – H52, H55 – H64, R65 – R66, H67 – H70,

R71 – R73, H74 – H79, R80 – R103, R118 – R128.

 will qualify for the Champion of Britain Title classes, to be held at the Royal London Show in 2008.  

 Each qualified equine will receive a qualification card in the ring, which will enable the owner to

 enter the Royal London Show, provided the owner and rider/handler are, or become registered with

 the International Showing Society within 28days of the qualifying show. No equine registration is

JUNIOR JUDGES COMPETITION

Classes  R14, H37, R112.

 

 Candidates MUST have attained their 14th birthday before 1st January in the current year and not to

 have attained their 19th birthday before 1st January in the current year, and will be expected to

 appear smart and wearing a hat.

 

 Candidates will be invited to observe one of the qualifying classes and record their observations and 

 final placing order on a prepared mark sheet. The Judge will then continue to judge the class and

 place the ponies in their preferred order.

 On completion of the class the judge will assemble all the comments/mark sheets and award a

 qualifying card to the young judge of their choice.

 The winner of each qualifying class will be invited to compete in the final of the Young Judges

 Competition to be held at our Championship Show in September.

 

 At the final all candidates will be asked to judge both In-Hand & Ridden classes. The winner to

 receive the ‘SWPA Young Judges Sash & Trophy’

 

 All six finalists of this competition will be invited to judge at future SWPA Shows, and encouraged

 to build their own judging portfolio.

Open to Mountain and Moorland ponies of all ages registered with their respective Pure Breed Societies.

H1           Yearling. Shetland, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Welsh sections A and B. (Best Yearling Rosette)

 

H2           Two and Three year old. Shetland, Dartmoor, Exmoor, Welsh sections A and B.

 

H3           Four year old and over. Shetland, Dartmoor and Exmoor. (Best Foal Rosette)

 

H4           Four year old and over. Welsh sections A and B. (Best Foal Rosette)

 

H5           Yearling. New Forest, Connemara, Dales, Fells, Highland, Welsh sections C and D.

                 (Best Yearling Rosette)

 

H6           Two and Three year old. New Forest, Connemara, Dales, Fells, Highland,

                 Welsh sections C and D.

The first & second placed ponies in classes H1 – H7 will qualify for the 2008 SWPA In-Hand Mountain & Moorland Championship.

 

P(UK) GLYN GREENWOOD M&M IN-HAND CHAMPIONSHIP:

1st placed exhibits from classes H1 – H7 to compete.

 

The Champion & Reserve Champion Small Breeds, and the Champion & Reserve Champion Large Breeds will qualify.

 

SWPA OWNER BRED CHAMPIONSHIP

MUST be owned and shown by a member of the family

 

H8           Owner Bred, (M&M only). Any Age. (Best Yearling Rosette, Best Foal Rosette)

 

The first, second & third placed exhibits in class H8 will qualify for the 2008 SWPA Owner Bred Championship.

 

The first and second placed Brood Mares  in classes H3 – H4, H7 – H8 will qualify for the 2008 SWPA Brood Mare Championship.

 

MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND IN-HAND CHAMPIONSHIP:

1st & 2nd placed exhibits from classes H1 – H8 to compete.

 

The SWPA Kitt-Kraiburg Supreme In-Hand Championship Qualifier.

The Champion from this Mountain & Moorland In-Hand section will qualify for the 2008 SWPA

Kitt-Kraiburg Supreme In-Hand Championship.

To be held at the SWPA Championship Show on 13 September 2008.

(If the Champion has qualified then the qualification may go to the Reserve Champion)

 

MINI RIDDEN CLASSES

 

RING ONE Continued: -        Judge: Mrs M H Arrowsmith-Brown.

 

R9           Novice Lead Rein. Any type. Mare or Gelding,. Four years old and over. Not exceeding

                 122cms. Riders NOT to have won any Lead Rein class prior to the date of this Show.

                 Riders not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1st January in the current year. To be

                 shown in a SNAFFLE BRIDLE. The lead rein to be attached to the noseband only.

 

R10         Beginners First Ridden. Any Type. Mare or Gelding. Four years old and over. 128cms

                 and under. Riders NOT to have ridden in any Open First Ridden class prior to the date of

                 this Show. Riders not to have attained their 10th birthday before 1st January in the current

                 year. To be shown in a SNAFFLE BRIDLE.

May be accompanied in the ring, but the child must be seen to be riding the pony unaided.

 

The first & second placed ponies from class R10 will qualify for the 2008 SWPA Beginners First Ridden Championship.

 

P(UK) ROSETTES DIRECT LEADING REIN PONY CHAMPIONSHIP

 

R11         Open Leading Rein Pony. Mare or Gelding. Four years old and over, not exceeding

#              122cms. Riders not to have attained their 7th birthday before 1st January in the current

                 year. To be led by an attendant. To be shown in a SNAFFLE BRIDLE. Lead rein to be

                 attached to the noseband only.

 

P(UK) ROSETTES DIRECT FIRST RIDDEN PONY CHAMPIONSHIP

 

R12         Open First Ridden Pony. Mare or Gelding. Four years old and over, not exceeding

#              122cms. Riders not to have attained their 10th birthday before 1st January in the current

                 year. To be shown in any suitable bridle.

 

The highest placed exhibits not already qualified within the first six places in classes R11 – R12 will be

issued with a “Registration of Qualification” Certificate in the ring.

 

The three highest placed exhibits not already qualified in classes R11 – R12 will qualify for the

Equifest Show Pony Lead Rein & First Ridden Finals.

 

The first & second placed ponies in classes R11 – R12 will qualify for the 2008 SWPA Open Mini Ridden Championship.
